Working To Bring Those Adsense Earnings Up!

If your Google Adsense earnings are down and you want to work to make your Google Adsense earnings go up then you have to identify your Adsense "problem areas!

Take a look at the screenshot below:

These are my Adsense numbers for today - so far!

Take a look at my adsense click-thru-rate. As an adsense publisher my goal for Adsense click thru rate is to have at least a 10% ctr on my adsense earnings. Now there have been times when my adsense click through rate has been higher and there have been times when my adsense click-thru-rate has been lower. But as you can see from the screenshot I am pretty much within my Adsense click thru rate goals.

How do you get a high adsense click thru rate? To get a high click through means that a good portion of the people that visit your adsense site are clicking on your adsense ads. That may be because the adsense ads that are appearing on your site are relative to the content on your site OR the adsense ads on your site are NOT relative to the content on your site BUT the adsense ads that are appearing on your site are interesting enough that they are being clicked on anyway.

Now take a look at the ecpm which means the estimate cost per click. That number means that the average price of the clicks are getting are in that number range. So this is another good example of how adsense publishers can incorporate higher-paying keywords into the content of their site so that they can earn more money per Adsense ad that gets clicked on their site.

If your Adsense earnings are down don't whine or complain about it.

Do something about it!

Are Your Adsense Earnings Down?

The Adsense Consultant

Are your Google Adsense earnings down? Then don't worry because you are not alone! I have seen many board postings from Adsense publishers who have posted about how their adsense earnings have gone way down! Even my own adsense earnings have decreased!

But instead of whine and complain though I decided to do something about it!

There are 2 ways to increase your Adsense earnings:

  • The first way is to increase the traffic to your Adsense site. Get those traffic numbers up! Install one of the free stat tracking widgets so that you can see where your traffic is coming from! I have them on my own sites and I recommend them to my clients as well. These traffic widgets will show you where your traffic is coming from. For example with my own tracking stats I can tell that about half of my traffic comes from the search engines and the other half comes from traffic that came to my sites from places that I have posted to.

  • The 2nd way to increase your Google Adsense earnings is to incorporate more higher-paying keyword content into your site. There are a few high-paying keywords that pay as much as $100 per click! I have a high-paying keyword list of my own and it is this exact same list that I am using now to incorporate more high-paying keyword content into my (and my clients') sites.

You can either use these high-paying keywords as the basis of your site or you could take the higher-paying keywords and incorporate into a site that you have already made.

I also provide a service where I take a client's site and find the most popular search terms that are related to the client's site. With this list of the most popular search terms I incorporate these popular search terms into the client's site (or I provide them with the list of popular search terms and they incorporate those popular search terms into their own sites themselves). I am also doing this for my own sites as well.

You would probably be surprised and amazed at the number of people who are searching for the most simplest of terms and phrases. For example did you know that over 2 Million people typed in the word "adsense" in a search engine last month? That is a lot of people! Now since my blog is about being an Adsense Consultant I want to get as much of that traffic coming to this blog as possible! In fact I have noted here and on my The SEO Consultant Blog about how important it is to rank high in the search engines if you want more traffic to come to your site or blog. More traffic to your site (that has Adsense on it) means the more potential clicks you will get on your Adsense ads!

Another search term that has had over 1 Million searches is the term "making money online". It seems that a lot of people are interested in being able to make money online. Now remember that these are search terms that are associated with my blog and since Adsense is one of the great ways to earn money online visitors may come to my site seeking more information about how to make money online since I mention how the Google Adsense program is a great way to be able to make money online.

So if your Adsense earnings are down Do something about it!

Using High-Paying Keywords On Your Blog

Of course there are various keywords that will pay you a higher adsense earning when visitors to your site click on them however there is the "problem" of having those high-paying keywords be related to the subject matter of your blog.

I have seen one popular blog that gets a lot of traffic but they have so many different subjects on their blog. I'm guessing that the reason why is because they want to target higher-paying keyword content so that they will get paid more money per click.

One example of a higher-paying keyword is "student loan consolidation". Now I know that Rose has a website about student loans and information about how there are some programs to help people financially with their student loans. It seems that a lot of students are having trouble paying back their student loans. I know of one person that hasn't paid back their student loans so now payments are being taken out of the income checks. Moreover the student loan people now want them to make payment arrangements in addition to still taking out the payments from their check so that they can get their student loan out of default.

I am guessing that the reason that "student loan consolidation" is such a high-paying keyword is because there are businesses out there that want this kind of business so bad that they are willing to pay a high price just so people (and potential clients) will be directed to their website which more than likely is some sort of loan consolidation business.

My Referral Ads Are Starting To Pay Off!

Last year I started putting referral ads on my sites because they had the potential to earn more adsense money. It was not until this year that I started earning some money from the referral ads. (And it is true that you DO have the potential to earn a lot more than from the content ads!

So if you're thinking about adding the adsense referral ads to your site then I would suggest that you do - if for no other reason than having the potential to earn more adsense money! It does take a little bit more time setting up the referral ads but - in my opinion - they are well worth it!

Which Ad Format Produces The Best Results?

Which adsense ad size gets the most results?

Here is an excerpt from some of my notes:

"Use the Large Rectangle-With Google Adsense, you have the option of picking different ad formats. Most of the time people opt to use the Leaderboard (728x90) or Wide Skyscraper (160x600) style ads. Unfortunately, this is the wrong choice, because both look like blatant advertisements. Instead smart webmasters have found that using the Large Rectangle (336x280) yields the best amount of click-thrus.

* Don't use the Adsense 486x60 sized ad as it is generally ignored.

* Make them more noticeable by positioning your AdSense ads on top of your AdSense page.

* Google states that the most effective ad formats are 336×280 larger rectangle, the 300×250 inline rectangle, and the 160×600 wide skyscraper. However you should choose the best AdSense ad format that works for your AdSense web site. This requires tracking and testing.

My Site / Blog Is Not Making Any Money!

I am seeing a lot of posts from people who are complaining that their sites are not making money with adsense.

If your site is not making money with adsense and you want it to you are going to have to find out WHY!

Probably one of the best pieces of advice that I can give to you is to make sure that your blog has a theme! It seems blogs of a general nature just won't "cut it"!

Let's say for example that you have a site that is just about you - which would be classified as a general site because you would be talking about things in a general kind of way. That means that the adsense ads that appear on your site will be of a general nature too.

You can turn that around by making your blog more specific. If your site is about you then find something specific about yourself that you can write about. You can always include other information about yourself but find a theme and generally stick to it.

Take something that you love (or hate) and make your site about that.

One of Adsense's success stories is about a man who has a site. He is a handyman and his site offers good tips and content about repairs. His site is one of Adsense's success stories because he is making a lot of money with adsense.

You also have to do some "basic" work with your site if you want it to make adsense money. For example do you have a counter on your site so that you can track your traffic? What about a stats counter so that you can see where your traffic is coming from?

Is your site optimized for the search engines? That means does a link to your site come up in the search engines when people are looking for information that is related to the content on your site? You can go to my The SEO Consultant Blog to find out more about search engine optimization. You can also follow my own progress as I work to keep my (and my clients') sites ranking high on the search engines.

Here is a link to a blog post that I made about how much some people have been earning with adsense.

You should also have your blog or website looked over by someone else just so that you can get an objective point of view. Maybe there is something that you are missing but you just can't see it.

All in all I think that almost any blog or website has the potential to earn with adsense.

Optimizing Your Blog To Get More Traffic

I'm currently working on increasing the traffic to a client's blog.

The first thing that has to be done is to monitor the amount of traffic that the blog has already gotten.

Actually Adsense is good for this because I can track the number of page impressions and use it as a standard tool for keeping track of the client's blog traffic.

Right now my current goal (for the client) is to double the amount of traffic that their blog gets per month.

I have had a chance to look at their adsense totals for the month so far and as of today they have already passed the total number of traffic / visitors that they got last month.

So I'm going to monitor for the rest of the month to see if their traffic number doubles that of last month.

It Is Possible To Get $1 Per Click (and sometimes even more!)

I checked my adsense numbers today and was pleasantly surprised to find out that one of my sites generated more than $1 per click (Actually it generated over $2 per click!).

This has happened to me more than once and I'm sure that other adsense publishers have experienced the same thing.

The one thing that is hard is figuring out what word or term that adsense crawled for to get such a high-paying advertiser? Say for instance you saw that you were getting $1 or more per click and you would like to go to that site to see what content you had that generated such a high-paying click. It would be near-impossible to do because everytime you access your site the ads will change so you won't really know what high-paying ad that was so you wouldn't be able to tell what content generated that high-paying ad.

This is much different that targeting your site with high-paying keywords. When you do that you expect to see higher click rates anyway.

I'm working with a list of high-paying keywords just to see what kind of high-paying clicks they will generate.

The Poll Results - so far....................

So far over 14 people have voted in the poll that appears on the side of this blog. (Just scroll down if you can't see the poll). The poll asks how much money have you made per month using adsense and the majority of votes seem to be that people have made $49 or less with their blog monthly. Now $49 isn't all that bad and you could get an adsense payment at least every 3 months if you made at least $49 dollars a month with the adsense program.

But I'm sure that people are interested in making much more than $49 a month with adsense!

The way to make more money with adsense is to optimize your blog (or website) for the adsense program. You can do that while still remaining "true" to your blog. You will just have to work a little bit harder on your blog. Things like working on the content of your blog so that your blog's content attracts higher paying advertisers and increasing the traffic to your blog so that you get more visitors to your blog and that means more potential clicks on the ads.

One of the very first things that you should do is find out where your traffic is coming from. When you find out where your traffic is coming from then you can work on increasing your traffic flow. I note several instances of how traffic comes to my blogs and sites on my SEO Consultant Blog.

I think the question that the majority of people ask is whether or not their blog can become an adsense moneymaker and of course the answer is yes. But you do have to work on your blog. I know a lot of people say to treat it as a business but you can do that but still remain true to your blog. It's sort of comparable to having your own magazine that has ads in it. The ads are there but so is the general content and objective of the magazine itself. You can do that same thing with your blog.

You have to take a good look at your blog to see how you can optimize it for earning more adsense money. The best way to do that is to make sure that your blog or website has a theme. It targets the advertisers more and it gives your blog a reputation (hopefully a good one) as a good blog to go to when one is looking for information that is related to the content that is on your blog.

You may think that its impossible or hard to make adsense money with your blog or website but really its not - You just have to work at it and keep working at it.

As Of Today, I Passed The $100 Minimum Amount Of Earnings Required To Get An Adsense Payment Next Month!

That's right! It's official! I just checked my adsense earnings today and today is the day that I earned passed the $100 mark. You need to earn at least $100 during the month before you will get an adsense payment during the later end of the next month.

Now I don't tell you this to brag or boast but to show you that you don't have to have a lot of websites, fancy-looking websites or websites that have a gigantic amount of traffic. People are always bemoaning the fact that they haven't made any adsense money with their blog or website and the truth of the matter is that if you have not been making any adsense money with your blog or website you will have to find out the reason why! It is just as simple as that!

Two different people could have a blog on the exact same topic but only one of them is making any adsense money and the other one is not - why is that?

If you don't know why your blog (or website) is not making any adsense money then ask someone to take a look at your site and maybe they will be able to see something that you don't.

The bottom line is this: If you want to make adsense money with your blog or website then you are going to have to do the kind of work that is necessary to make (or make more) money with adsense. Have you been increasing the traffic to your site? Where is your traffic coming from? Have you optimized your site for your adsense ads? Have you optimized your site for the search engines so that people will be able to find your site easily? Those are just a few of the things that you have to work on if you want to make more money with adsense.

I don't have a lot of blogs and I don't have a lot of websites but yet and still I made it to the minimum amount required to get an adsense payment next month and the month isn't even over with yet! Can you say the same thing about your website(s) or blog(s)?

Adsense Referrals - Are They Worth It?

The jury seems to be "out" on this issue.

When asked the question of whether or not putting the adsense referral ads on one's site would increase their adsense earnings even more, the replies were not all that favorable. There was even some grumbling about how placing referral ads on one's site would benefit everyone BUT the website publisher!

A few people have said that when they first put the referral ads on their site(s) they did get more income from them but that didn't last for more than the first month that the ads were put on the site.

Personally I have just started to add the adsense referral ads to some of my sites and its just too early to tell of any results yet.

My best piece of advice would be for you to experiment with the adsense refferal ads. Make sure you pick ads that are related to the content of your site.

90% Of Adsense Publishers Earning Little To No Money?

Here is an interesting article about how a lot of adsense publishers are earning little to no adsense money.

I find that surprising and quite an ironic twist to my blog post about just how much money are people making with adsense blog post.

Currently I am about $2 away from earning at least the minimum $100 that is required to get an adsense payment in the next month.

So far July 2007 has been my best adsense earning month and August 2007 is my 2nd best and my adsense earnings are increasing every month! For the past 4 months I have always taken a little bit out of my adsense earning to buy myself a celabratory pizza for a job well done! But my adsense earnings have also allowed me to pay some of my bills and you can not beat that!

Don't get me wrong though. I don't just build websites and let them stay still. I have to constantly work on my sites - updating them and adding new content, etc.....

It's a shame that more people aren't earning more from their adsense ads and fortunately I can say that I am not one of them!

  • As of Sunday, September 16, 2007 I have earned the minimum $100 needed to get an adsense payment next month!

  • As of Saturday, September 15th 2007 - I am 40 cents away from earning the minimum $100 needed to get an adsense payment for next month - think I'll make it?

"Where Do I Find High-Paying Keywords Without Having To Pay For It?"

"Hello Ms. sister2brother,

Thanks for responding to my question in the AdSense blog. I have a couple more questions if you don't mind.

Here is what you wrote:

You may want to concentrate more on the content of your site. The reason why you are getting such low cpm is because the content of your site is only appealing to low-paying advertisers.

Work on incorporating higher-paying keywords into the content of your site.

There have been times when my cpm rate has reached $1000! Too bad I didn't know what keyword(s) triggered that becuae I would be using it all the time.

How do i find out which Keywords that pay more, and are somewhat associated with my subject matter without buying some "so callled" keyword list?

Thanks,
J~
"

The most simplest answer to your question is that you have to do the work and find the high-paying keywords.

I have gathered a number of lists that claim to have high-paying keywords and I'm going to experiment using these "high-paying" keywords on both my and my clients sites.

Some Tips And Advice For Optimizing Your Adsense Earnings!

Here are some things that you can do to help optimize your adsense earnings:

  • Blend in your adsense ads with the layout of your site. Take a look at my Blog Consultant Blog and notice how the ads blend in with the colors of the blog itself! This is an often advised piece of advice when it comes to optimizing one's adsense ads to increase their earnings but a lot of people don't seem to follow this good piece of advice! When you are picking the colors for your adsense ads you are given the option of either choosing adsense's already premade palettes or you can create color palettes of your own.

Now of course there are some sites that purposely make their ads look different than the colors used on their site and it seems to work for them - so they say. So my best piece of advice here would be for you to experiment to see what works best and brings in the most adsense earning for your site

  • "Above the fold" - This simply means that you should place at least some of your adsense ads at the top of your site so that it is the first thing that your site visitors will see - making it more likely that they would click on the ads!

I will be adding more tips as time goes by
